ปิดฉาก Mozilla Messaging ถูกยุบรวมกับ Mozilla Labs หลังผลงานไม่ดี

โครงการ Thunderbird มีต้นกำเนิดไล่เลี่ยกับโครงการ Firefox แต่ความนิยมกลับต่างกันมาก ส่งผลให้ทางโครงการ Mozilla ทุ่มทรัพยากรให้กับการพัฒนา Firefox มากกว่ามาก สุดท้ายในปี 2008 Mozilla ตัดสินใจแยกองค์กรใหม่ชื่อ Mozilla Messaging ขึ้นมาดูแล Thunderbird ให้เป็นอิสระจาก Firefox ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกัน

Mozilla Messaging สามารถออก Thunderbird 3.0 ได้สำเร็จ (และ Thunderbird 3.1 ในภายหลัง) แต่สภาพตลาดอีเมลเปลี่ยนไปจากเดิมมาก คนส่วนใหญ่ใช้เว็บเมลกันหมด และ Mozilla Messaging ไม่ประสบความสำเร็จในการค้นหาทางออกให้กับซอฟต์แวร์สื่อสารได้

ล่าสุดทางองค์กรแม่คือ Mozilla จึงยุบรวม Mozilla Messaging เข้ากับองค์กรลูกอีกแห่ง Mozilla Labs เพื่อให้บริหารจัดการทรัพยากรได้ง่าย โครงการ Thunderbird จะยังอยู่เหมือนเดิมไม่เปลี่ยนแปลง เพียงแต่เปลี่ยนมาสังกัด Mozilla Labs แทน และโครงการทดลองอื่นๆ ของ Mozilla Messaging อย่างเช่น F1 add-on ก็จะถูกรวมเข้ามาใน Mozilla Labs ด้วยเช่นกัน

มีใครยังใช้ Thunderbird เป็น client หลักในการติดต่อทางอีเมลอยู่ไหมครับ?

ก่อนหน้านี้ใช้ Outlook ไม่ก็ Windows Live Mail สลับๆ กันแล้วแต่ช่วงครับ ตอนหลังกลับมาใช้ Webmail IE9 Pin site หลังจากที่มันกิน HDD ผมไปราวๆ 3GB+

หงึ ผมอ่ะใช้เลย ใช้กับ gmail, yahoo, กับ live บางไอดี
แต่จริงๆ ผมใช้ทั้งสามอันเลยอ่ะครับ outlook นี่สำหรับอีเมลล์ที่ใช้ในงาน office ส่วน windows live mail ก็ใช้กับพวกไอดีที่ใช้กับ facebook เป็นส่วนใหญ่ แล้วก็นกสายฟ้าใช้กับเพื่อนๆ แล้วก็เว็ปบอร์ดที่ใช้งานประจำๆ อยู่

ผมก็ใช้อยู่ครับ บางอย่างจะดูสะดวกน้อยกว่าของค่าย Microsoft แต่บางอย่างก็ให้ความรู้สึกดีกว่านะ

แต่คิดว่า ควรจะปรับปรุงเรื่องประสบการณ์ผู้ใช้ อย่างเช่นคลิ๊กแล้วค้างแป๊บนึง (เพราะโหลดข้อมูล) เนี้ย มันจะให้ความรู้สึกไม่ดีกับผู้ใช้งาน ต่างจาก windows live ที่มันไม่มีค้างแบบนั้น แต่มันก็ต้องรอโหลดเหมือนกัน เพียงแต่คลิ๊กอย่างอื่นต่อได้

แต่ละวันเกือบ 200 ฉบับ ในจำนวนนั้นมี email ขนาด 20-40 MB ประมาณวันละ 15-20 ฉบับ (Mail server ผม Attachment limit สูงครับ เพราะเป็นเรื่องจำเป็น)
กรณีนี้ ผมทนใช้ Web mail ไม่ไหวครับ จึงยังมีผมคนหนึ่งล่ะ ที่ยังใช้ Thunderbird ครับ
ปล่อยให้ Download มาหมดก่อน แล้วไปชงกาแฟซักพัก กลับมาค่อยว่ากัน...

Thunderbird เป็น Software เพียงตัวเดียวที่ผมเปิดตลอด 24 ชั่วโมงไม่มีการปิดครับ เป็น Software ตัวเดียวที่ผมเปิดดูทุกๆ 2-3 นาทีครับ

ไม่ชอบ Outlook ตรงที่มันเทอะทะน่ะครับ ชอบตัว Thunderbird + Calendar มากกว่าเยอะครับ ใช้มันทุกวัน ใช้มันทั้งวันตะบี้ตะบันใช้ มีเมล์เก็บไว้ใน Thunderbird กว่า 60,000 ฉบับแล้วครับ ตาราง Calendar เองใช้ตั้งแต่ยังเป็น Add-On ชื่อ Lightning อยู่เลยครับ

ถ้าปิดไปนี่ผมจะเสียดายอย่างสุดซึ้งครับ .... อยากให้พัฒนาต่อไปครับ ไม่ต้องรีบครับ ตัว Software มันเสถียรของมันดีอยู่แล้วครับ Browser หวือหวาได้ แต่ Mail Client นี่ต้องเน้นเรียบง่าย ใช้เร็ว อ่านสะดวก ใช้แล้วมีความสุขกับมันครับ ... Thunderbird นี่ใช้แล้วรู้สึกมีความสุขดีครับ

เป็น app ตัวเดียวที่ผมรันค้างไว้ 24hrs
ใช้คู่กับ push mail ของ iPhone

ในเครื่องมี Outlook 2010 แต่ก็ไม่ได้ใช้
ชอบ Thunderbird ที่มันเล็กและไม่เทอทะเนี่ยล่ะ
ที่สำคัญคือ ไม่ผลาญ mem ด้วย

เก่งกว่า Outlook Express มากครับ (ด้านบน ข้อมูลอาจผิดนะ)

ThunderBird (POP3/IMAP Email Client) + Lighing (calenar , events, task ) + Digby (IM ,Alerter) + BirdySync (sync เข้า mobile) โอย สุดยอด Alert ตลอด

  • Sync กับ Gmail Calendar ได้ ถ้า อยาก Share Calendar

เก่งใกล้เคียงกับ MS OUTLOOK แต่ กระชับ และ Open กว่า
บางเรื่อเก่ง กว่า เช่น ผมใช้ link กับ Email Office, Gmail , Yahoo, Hotmail (เฉพาะอันนี้ outlook ได้)

  • ใช้ร่วมกับ Libre Office ผมไม่ต้องใช้ MS Office เลย

ผม ยัง ต้องการ Off Line Email อยู่ดี ครับ (บางครั้งไม่ได้ Online อ่านได้และเร็วกว่า โดยเฉพาะ attach files) ตอบนัดลูกค้า ได้ทันที ไม่ต้อง online (ผมไปข้างนอกบ่อย บางที่ ไม่มี สัญญาน net)

++ ไม่ตายหรอกครับ และที่สำคัญ ฟรีเหมือนกัน นะครับ

ใช้อยู่ เป็นซอฟแวรร์ที่ขาดไม่ได้เลย ถ้าไม่มี Thunderbird ก็ไม่รุ้ว่า แต่ละวันจะเสียเวลาเช็คเมล์จากอีเมล์สิบแอคเค้าได้ยังใงในเวลาสั้นๆ

ปล.windows live mail ดึงข้อมูลจากgmail ได้ช้ามาก

เมลของ office เปลี่ยนมาใช้ MS Exchange ได้สักพักแล้ว
แต่ยังรัก Thunderbird มิเสื่อมคลาย คงเสียดายถ้าจะเลิกพัฒนาต่อ
ชอบตรงระบบจัดเก็บทีเป็น folder แยก ๆ ทำให้การ movement ทำได้คล่องตัว
ไม่ชอบ Post office เนื่องจากเคยประสบปัญหา file crash แล้วกู้อะไรกลับไม่ได้เลย
อีกอย่างระบบ Search ที่ทำได้เร็วมาก ๆ ช่วยให้การค้นหาเมลเก่าได้ง่ายมาก

ตอนนี้ก็เล็ง Zimbra Desktop ไว้เป็นทางเลือกเตรียมไว้ก่อนครับ

ชอบ thunderbird ครับ ทำงานร่วมกับ Gmail ได้เนียนมาก (แต่จากข้อจำกัดเรื่องที่ใช้คอมเก่า ทำให้ต้องไปใช้ Opera Mail แทน ซึ่งก็ใช้ได้ดีพอตัว)

สิ่งที่ไม่ชอบใน Thunderbird เห็นจะมี 3 อย่าง คือความอืดเพราะ XUL, Adressbook หน้าตาแย่ๆ (ชอบของ Outlook ครับ), และซิงค์กับ Windows Mobile โดยตรงได้ค่อนข้างลำบาก

อ้อ มันมี extension ที่เป็น quick reply มั๊ยครับ เป็นช่องพิมพ์ข้อความเล็กๆใต้อีเมล (แบบใน Opera Mail)

ผมคิดว่า Mail Client ไม่น่าจะหายไปได้ครับ เพราะในบริษัทการใช้งานจะสะดวกกว่า Web Mail มาก ที่สำคัญหากไม่มีเน็ต หรือเน็ตมีปัญหา (มีอยู่เป็นพักๆ) หรือเซอร์ฟเวอร์เมลมีปัญหา บริษัทก็ยังสามารถทำงานต่อได้ เพราะยังดูข้อมูลได้อยู่ ที่บริษัทใช้ Thunderbird ทุกคนครับ ใช้งานได้ไม่แพ้ Outlook เลย หากปิดจริงๆก็น่าเสียดายมาก
