Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails

As a member of RockYou's media team, you will be an integral part of building out our platform, which powers websites across numerous communities. You will also help define and build internal tools to support different departments within the company.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate the full stack from database through web application tier
- Create reusable code abstractions
- Communicate and interface with web APIs
- Write APIs that expose internal services to the front-end
- Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and product managers
- Participate in code review and QA
- Monitor and review events that impact site availability/performance and suggest and implement solutions
- Mentor other engineers and lead projects on your own or with others

Requirements
- 4+ years experience building web applications
- Expertise with server-side MVC web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails
- Experience with RESTful API design
- Deep knowledge of JavaScript and AngularJS 1.x
- Solid grasp of HTML (HAML), CSS (SASS), and related web technologies
- Ability to debug issues on the server by inspecting logs
- Experience with BDD and unit testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Rspec, etc
- Ability to build responsive UIs from tiny screens to huge displays
- Awareness of cross-browser inconsistencies and client-side performance
- A passion for building good looking and performant UIs
- Strong communication skills and not afraid to ask questions

Bonus experience
- Familiarity with scrum or other agile development practices
- You’ve open sourced something that people are actively using
- Experience with pair programming
- Experience with AWS
