GIZ is looking for a chatbot and website developer. While the person should be strong on developing, it is also a project manager position as several projects will need to be integrated.

The German government owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving it goals in the field of sustainable development. As a leading implementer for technical cooperation projects, GIZ acknowledges that digitalization is changing the way the development sector operates. To address a changing environment, we are looking for a Lead Chatbot and Web Developer to support the Groots project.

Lead Chatbot and Web Developer

Groots has developed GIZs first chatbot during the Smart Energy Hackathon in Bangkok.
Chatbots and the visualization of collected data will be an increasingly important tool for the development sector. Chatbots hold the promise to engage less privileged target groups and allow them to create value and improve living conditions.

We are now taking the Groots project one step further by scaling our activities. The Groots team will develop several chatbots for different applications and sectors over the coming year and is looking to increase the technical expertise about chatbot and web development. The Lead Chatbot and Web Developer will be responsible for designing, coding and modifying chatbots and the websites that present collected data from layout to function and according to a client's specifications. You will strive to create visually appealing products that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation. You will work in a demanding role, a highly international team and in a startup-like atmosphere while
benefiting from GIZs worldwide presence and networks. Groots has a long-term perspective and is growing fast - this is an opportunity to shape an exciting business unit within GIZ.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- You will collaborate with the team members to taking responsibility over driving
improvements to our technology, design and develop new services (chatbots)
- You will maintain the production environment and collect and make sense of usage data
- You are deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and improving the services
- You will build and track metrics to ensure high quality results display (web development,dashboards)
- While you have a strong background in chatbot and web development yourself, you will
also manage external support to deliver the products we seek to build
- You will influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems.
- The position requires constant communication with colleagues

We are looking for strong software developer. You are results-oriented, data driven,
innovative and passionate at creating new comprehensive customer engagement services/solutions. You are hands-on, able to take initiative, innovative, and act with a focus on results. We are looking for people who want to make a difference.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
- Deep expertise and hands on experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and API's.
- Experience in designing, setting-up and querying large Databases (e.g. MySQL)
- Strong working experience on a common tech-stack
- Minimum of 2 years' industry experience as a software development engineer
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards.
- Experience in planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English language

Preferred Qualifications
- Masters' degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical
discipline
- Facebook Messenger or other messaging platform API knowledge
- Background in Big-data analysis
- Practical knowledge of formal syntax, formal semantics, corpus analysis, dialogue
management
- Understanding of morphology, lexicology, phonetics, pragmatics, automated speech
analysis and synthesis
- Eager to learn and learn fast, enjoy a fast-paced environment
- Self-directed, demonstrate leadership potential and a team player
- Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
- Experience with scalable distributed systems and service oriented architectures
- Practical experience with software engineering best practices
- Ability to drive innovation

The position is based in Bangkok. Compensation will be competitive and in line with local standards. This will be a fixed-term contract, starting as soon as possible and running until March 2019 (with possibility of extension).
