นิตยสาร Popular Science จัดรางวัล Best of What’s New 2006 โดยหมวด Computing ผู้ชนะคือแล็ปท็อปจากโครงการ OLPC

รางวัลหมวดใกล้เคียงกัน Home Entertainment ตกเป็นของ Nintendo Wii และหมวด Gadget คือ Ebook Reader ของ Sony

สำหรับรางวัลใหญ่ Innovation of the Year คือ HurriQuake ตะปูแบบใหม่ที่ช่วยให้บ้านคุณทนทานต่อพายุเฮอริเคนได้เพิ่มขึ้นอีกเท่าตัว
